65 - Vigilante by Lawrence Hall

When Lieutenant Detective Ashlyn runs into the town Vigilante at a bank robbery turned hostage situation the attraction she feels is palpable.  And the sexual tension between Ashlyn and Cain continues to build throughout this book, giving us all kinds of squishy feelings.  Imbued with super powers following a chemical accident, Cain seeks to make this city a better place and keep an eye on Ashlyn as she makes her way through the dangerous waters of being a police detective.  This book is another unique one for us with the world of enhanced humans giving us super good guys and bad guys alike.  The story moves quickly and keeps us in suspense as the different histories of the main players unfold while they converge in the present in an epic fight scene.  As fast as we are hooked by the writing the book ends, leaving us wanting more both of the building tension between Ash and Cain and the growing fight between the bad guys, the police, and the vigilante.  Since this is the first in a trilogy, we know there is so much more to tantalize and entertain in the books to come.

64 - How to Date Your Dragon by Molly Harper

WE WANT TO LIVE IN MYSTIC BAYOU!  This book was so much fun to read, we can’t praise it enough.  We love the small town, magical community Molly creates for Bael to protect and Jillian to explore.  The feeling is very much like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls but with a Supernatural twist! Jillian is coming off a long but abusive relationship and not ready to get into anything serious.  But life has other things in mind.  While not the focus of the book, the abuse and damage done by Jillian’s ex is very evident in her person and how she approaches new men in her life.  It's an important story of the lasting impact gaslighting and mental abuse have on people.  Luckily, Jillian meets and falls for a totally new kinda guy in Bael.  Get ready for fun sexy times in all kinds of unique places!

63 - Vengeance Unveiled by Zoey Indiana

In this book we explore a dystopian, futuristic world different from the worlds of most of our books.  We are introduced to a future where men are extinct and society is controlled by the iron fist of the government  This book turns so many of the traditional romance tropes on their heads!  Freya is the super badass warrior; a trained killing machine.  While Bash is imprisoned, manipulated, and kept from the greater world for the purposes of forced breeding.  The chemistry between them is brilliant as both navigate a new and unexpected path forward.  This book was so much fun to read.  Take what you think you know about romances and throw it out.  The characters grow together and individually in really believable ways.  We can’t wait to read more and find out what other surprises Zoey has in store.

62 - Found in Amber by Esther Rabbit

This book finishes up the story that began in Lost in Amber which we read last year.  The first part was so new and interesting we couldn’t wait to see what Ester did in the second part.  The stakes from the first book are raised, now it is not just Earth that is in danger but many planets around the universe.  The blooming relationship between Zoey and Jasper continues in book two, we even get a beautiful and gentle love scene. Zoey’s character continues to grow and learn as she reexamines her past relationship with James and her new relationship with Jasper.  Once again, Esther crafts beautiful and complex characters that have wonderfully real feeling relationships.  We were so excited to spend more time in this world and this book delivered.

61 - Daring by Elliott James

Not our typical Paranormal Romance, this book is more of an Urban Fantasy.  Despite that, it delivers a strong main character that we have a real soft spot for.  We love John Charming and this book is all about him!  Unfortunately most of the fun characters from the first book are absent as Jon goes on a spiritual journey to reconcile with his inner wolf.  There is some fun sexual tension with new characters and a load of intrigue.  Even though we don’t get the sexy fun we are looking for we really enjoy these books by Elliott James.  Don’t miss our discussion of the best part in the book, when John literally runs away from a woman offering sex.

60 - Fallen Academy: Year One by Leia Stone

We love this wild and insane world that is created in the aftermath of angels and demons bringing their battle to Earth. Brielle may be only 18 and might have the wings of Satan but that doesn’t stop her from developing serious feels for the sexy Lincoln Grey.  While this book might be a New Adult novel the relationships and interactions between characters don’t feel juvenile.  While the sex is late and less descriptive, there are a few heavy kissing scenes which kept us going as the book ricocheted from one wild adventure to the next.

59 - The Stone Warriors: Damian by D. B. Reynolds

There is nothing like finding yourself in a life or death situation to make you wish for some help.  Luckily for Casey, her wish was answered when a statue came to life and saved the day.  I will now spend the rest of time wishing for help on hunky statues whenever I see one.  Damn! This book brings the heat.  It is not for the faint of heart.  The sex scenes are hot, heavy, and plentiful, just what we want!  Bonus, even though Damian is an ancient warrior he is free from much of the annoying machismo that ruins some of these characters.  That doesn’t mean his and Casey’s relationship is smooth sailing, but at least he isn’t being a total alpha all the time.

58 - The Last Goodbye - The Beginning by Bernadette Marie

This book is a bit different than our normal fare; it is a very sweet and gentle paranormal romance.  Unlike other books we typically read, the stakes are low, there is no apocalypse, and no fated mates to save the human race.  The relationship that develops between Grace and Matthew after her family’s mortuary helps put Matthew’s Grandmother (Nora) to rest is sweet and beautiful.  It feels like Grace and Matthew have each been waiting their whole lives to find each other.  The only hang up, Grace can hear and speak to the departed.  As she comes to terms with her inherited gift and Matthew offers to help her fulfill the last goodbyes of the deceased a tragedy strikes.  Matthew’s long-time friend, with hopes of becoming his girlfriend, Rebecca does not take the news of his new found romance very well.  We discuss the difficulty with showing and accepting sympathy from others and how we each prefer to be treated when in mourning.
